Who is American Heritage Girls for?

All biological girls of any color, creed, race, national origin and socioeconomic status who agree to live according to the standards of the AHG Oath and the AHG Creed are invited to be members of American Heritage Girls.

Age Range

Any girl age 5-18 can be an American Heritage Girl. Below are the 5 program levels based on age and grade level.

  • Pathfinder – Ages 5 to 6
  • Tenderheart – Ages 6 to 9
  • Explorer – Ages 9 to 12
  • Pioneer – Ages 12 to 14
  • Patriot – Ages 14 to 18

Not all troops are able to have all program levels – it’s dependent on the number of Adult Leaders available. Any adult with the heart to serve may apply to be an Adult Leader; all leaders go through a background check and interview prior to approval to insure the health and safety of the girls. Adult leadership positions range in level of involvement; talk with your AHG troop to learn what leadership opportunities are available.

What activities do we do?

Throughout the program levels the girls work to earn badges that teach them skills, like camping, sewing, cooking, and much more. They also get to participate in activities like lock-ins, food drives, father-daughter game night, Operation Christmas Child, mother-daughter tea and more. Every AHG troop is slightly different, and every program level is different. The Pioneers and Patriots have the opportunity to participate in more high adventure activities, like Recoil Rally, Night Ops, and other fun events.

Can parents be involved?

Yes! Without parents volunteering, AHG would not happen. Whether it’s volunteering to be a Unit Leader or a member of the Board or just volunteering to assist in planning special events or to help teach a badge that you’re passionate about, your involvement is greatly needed and greatly appreciated.
